46

The average life span of a person living in sub-Saharan Africa is 46. That is, if they can survive childhood.

The inequities that exist on our planet just flat out overwhelm me. For third world counties, issues like trade, debt, disease, and lack of education (www.data.org) are very real. I can hear about them on the news, but I am not living out the repercussions of them. They seem distant and far away to me most days. The biggest concerns for me are that gas prices are up and that there's a mean boy in my son's class.

A mom in Zimbabwe is worried about finding food for her kids. She's petrified that the disease she has will end her life before her baby is done nursing.

I don't know what to do with that right now. I'm having a day where the devastation in the world is devastating me.

  5. I have really enjoyed reading some of your posts!! I can tell you have been blessed by some of the wisdom of people I also enjoy reading (Tony Campolo). I love the quote that says..."God can not comfort the afflicted without afflicting the comfortable." Have you read Kay Warren's "Dangerous Surrender?"... she has a lot of wisdom and experience with ministering to the AIDS/ HIV population Thanks for sharing your thoughts and your heart!!
