Shameless PJ Day

I am not a napper. I rarely indulge in a mid-day siesta. It's hard for me to actually lay down when my head is swimming with the 103 other things I could be accomplishing. I often struggle with sleeping at night because of the to-do lists and scheduling woes permeating my consciousness.

Today, though, was different. Morning came and I literally had to pry myself out of bed to get my kids fed, watered, dressed and out the door. As soon as they were on the bus, I shamelessly crawled back in to bed. I had no meetings until later in the day and decided show myself some kindness. For just a brief moment, I felt guilty. Visions of laundry, bills, e-mails, jogging etc danced through my head. Then, I did something crazy. I let go of it all.

Two and half hours later, I woke up to a quiet, slightly messy house, and felt more refreshed than I have in a long time. I decided to push the envelope. I got out of bed, sat on the couch, and read the latest issue of Time while eating chocolate covered peanut butter pretzels.

I stayed in my PJ's until 1pm. Today, I declared war on the hectic, fast paced life we lead. And, I'm pretty sure I won.
