An Unfortunate Series of Events

So, I’ve been a negligent blogger this past week. I had an amazing, transformational experience last Tuesday on a run, wrote it down and then, chaos ensued.

To sum up, we have a new car, a new dog, and a new bank. The internet connection at my house has been dodgy at best, and we have a new leak in our main water line. I’m putting together the details for a missions trip to South Africa, had a PTA meeting, and tried hard to still feed my family. We finished up our soccer season with an end of the year party AND have purged our home of head lice. We are lice free, but I can’t stop scratching my head. Lice are invading my dreams and I am nursing a secret hope that I will never have to do laundry again. I finished my 32nd load of laundry tonight. I’m exhausted just reading that.

One bright spot of the week is that Scout, our new canine friend, has apparently grasped the concept of using the Great Outdoors as his toilet instead of my living room. I still can’t give him any unsupervised time, though. He likes to eat my shoes.

I’m looking forward to a week with more sane moments. I feel dizzy and a little nauseous, like I just got off the Tilt-a-Whirl at the state fair. Tomorrow, I’m going for a long run in the am, just to see the colors and catch a glimpse of the salmon. At least I don’t die right after I spend a week swimming upstream. Poor, poor salmon.

  3. I can relate (though not the head lice - somehow we have made it through 14 years of parenting without that!). Way to pack it all in and survive. I hope you get a quiet afternoon soon to curl up on the couch for an hour or two with your Scout and read a book or watch a movie... or nap!

Don't you love having a dog and a reason to HAVE to go for a walk?

  4. Sounds like you had some craziness in your life! I sympathize with the lice thing, and I don't even have kids! But when I was a nanny last year..those lice...they are EVIL! Here's to a better week!

  5. I remember a few incidents of head lice! Talk about paranoia whenever someone's hand came close to itching their head! The only positive was that everything in the house was really clean after the frenzied loads of laundry and Pine Sol applications. Hope you have had a less hectic week!
